25 Jul Annual “Arnold Day” Celebration Returning to Lazy Moon
An entire day dedicated to Arnold Schwarzenegger — yes, it’s real!
Arnold Day is a special event hosted at Lazy Moon which celebrates all things Arnold. From movies to quotes to costumes and cakes, the event makes a full day out of everything Arnold.
The “Arnold Day” event, coming up on its 9th year, is set for Saturday August 3 from noon to 2 a.m. at Lazy Moon located on University Boulevard near UCF. The event is FREE and open to the public.
A portion of the proceeds from menu sales will benefit Make-A-Wish Central & Northern Florida and 100% of proceeds from sales of select beers will benefit the charity as well.
The quirky event was started in 2004 by two Arnold fans who turned a visit to Lazy Moon into this annual festivity.
“While I am a fan, Arnold Day is not just for ‘fanboys’.” said Boylston, Arnold Day founder. “It is a celebration of an icon that spans many generations and platforms. It has practically become a holiday here.”
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Wishes typically fall into four categories: “I wish to be” (something), “I wish to meet” (someone), “I wish to go” (somewhere), and “I wish to have” (something). The average cost of a wish is $7,000, with that entire amount underwritten by partnerships, special events, foundation grants, and individual contributions.
“From my personal experience I know a child’s granted wish can help give back what the illness takes away. It can help a child forget about being sick, remember how to be a kid again, and to inspire them to keep making plans for the future,” said Bob Szafranski, a father of a wish child and a volunteer serving on the Board of Directors for Make-A-Wish Central & Northern Florida.
